Nestlé and Cia. Lilla
A SUCCESSFUL PARTNERSHIP
In 2021, when Nestlé celebrated 100 years since the establishment of its pioneering factory in the city of Araras, in the interior of São Paulo, it began a major modernization process in its coffee roasting sector. This involved replacing some older equipment with more modern, economical, and environmentally friendly solutions.
They started this endeavor by introducing a state of the art roaster with the goals of improving roast quality, reducing weight loss or improving yield, safely performing darker roasts, complying with stringent environmental regulations regarding emissions and carbon footprint reduction, and achieving all this with minimal energy and operational costs, leveraging the best available market technologies.
Cia Lilla participated in this modernization by making a revamp in an old Opus already existent, to a new 4G roasting control, and also increasing its production to 3.000 kilos/hour, which was then jointly evaluated as a technological option for the solution sought by Nestlé. Subsequently, as part of the group’s investments, three more Opus 3500 roasters were acquired. After commissioning this roasting processing complex, two more Opus 4G 4000 units were recently purchased, expected to be operational in the second half of 2024.
Several factors contributed to this increasingly reliable partnership between the two companies and the preference for Lilla roasters. Key aspects of Lilla equipment include:
After evaluating roasters from other suppliers, Nestlé opted for Cia. Lilla in recent years, with its unit in Chile also investing in two Lilla roasters.
